Yelmur – Remembering

‘Remembering’ is the second release by Yelmur, the new solo project of Dutch Berlin based composer / producer and multi-instrumentalist Jelmer de Haan. It’s released in advance of his upcoming album ‘How We Hide’. to be released in two parts, with Part One coming out September 2022.

Jelmer describes his track as ‘Baroque meets Breakcore’. It’s inspired by Henry Purcell’s 17th century opera composition ‘Dido’s Lament’, and blends the sound design, manipulation and aesthetics of electronic-music with elements of jazz, prog-rock and contemporary classical music. It’s got obvious links to Wendy Carlos, but has it’s own electronic slant…

If you want to get yourself clued up on Purcell’s original work, here’s some of Dido’s Lament, it’s lovely…
