Sam Bhok’s Glass Ankle opens with a tightly wound rhythm, layering rolling percussion and mechanical textures into a syncopated, forward-driving groove. The track unfolds with processed vocal elements and evolving synth work, creating a sense of momentum that dips in and out of erratic, acid-tinged sequences. Its broken techno core is interspersed with glitched textures and subtle nods to experimental pop, balancing unpredictability with cohesion.
Built during recovery from an ankle injury, the track captures a raw, home-studio immediacy—produced while laid up with a drum machine, modular synth, and a bag of frozen peas. There’s a sense of restless creativity throughout, as ideas are layered and withdrawn, returning to core motifs and rhythmic anchors.
This is the first single from an upcoming album and the second release from the Two For Joy label, which Bhok co-runs. Known primarily for his work behind the scenes as Worldwide FM’s head of production and live session engineer, Glass Ankle sees him pushing into a more club-oriented sound while retaining a detailed, experimental edge.
