Oakland-based experimental artist sachi’s mirror, the project of violinist and composer Shaina Pan, presents a new shape—a piece that blends ambient, avant-garde classical, and electronic elements with a focus on the expressive potential of the violin.
Opening with delicate pizzicato patterns, the track gradually unfolds into a layered arrangement of bowed strings, rhythmic pulses, and electronic textures. The rhythmic energy builds with an understated momentum, carried by acoustic sources shaped through digital production.
Midway through, a spoken-word vocal line enters, adding a narrative and reflective layer to the composition. Its directness contrasts with the surrounding textures, grounding the track while maintaining its experimental character.
Originally trained as a classical violinist, Pan began working with effects and electronics during her time in the Bay Area art-punk band Juicebumps. Under the moniker sachi’s mirror, she now explores solo electroacoustic compositions that draw from her background while forging new stylistic ground.
a new shape follows her debut single coral miracle church, continuing a trajectory defined by curiosity, texture, and sonic transformation.
