Rabouhl’s latest track, And Breathe, offers a richly atmospheric and improvisational journey. Opening with gentle guitar tones and piano, the track gradually introduces percussion, creating a sense of forward motion while maintaining its downtempo, cinematic vibe. Raw, delayed tones float over the arrangement, with shades of jazz influencing the overall texture. The track ebbs and flows, with the drums subtly pushing the composition forward, while atmospheric layers shift and evolve.
This piece, blending elements of jazz and soundtrack music, feels like “film music without a film” — evocative, but with space for the listener’s imagination to fill in the gaps. The trio behind Rabouhl, comprising Christoph “Toff” Fromme (fretless bass), Holger Raddatz (soprano saxophone and trumpet), and Martin Schoneberg (drums and percussion), is joined by guest musician Karsten Süßmilch on trombone for this track. The combination of fretted and fretless bass guitars, Rhodes, synths, and brass instruments creates a soundscape that is both immersive and intimate.
Recorded and mixed at Slowmo Studios, And Breathe began as a session jam and was later arranged into its final form. The track showcases Rabouhl’s ability to blend improvisation with composition, creating a unique sound that balances jazz, experimental textures, and downtempo atmospheres.
