Propulse is the work of brothers Kyle and Jon Wall, from a small town called Aylmer, in Ontario, Canada. They’ve recently released a 5 track EP, called the Digiform EP.
Combining morphing synths, electronic sounds and textures and off kilter rhythms, it’s a little like the Future Sound of London, but maybe a little glitchier. It’s an interesting listen and well worth checking out, if you’re into that kind of thing.
Here’s the first track, Cloud 9 People, which sets the tone nicely, with arpeggio synth patterns overlayed onto glitchy, irregular drums creating a dark mysterious atmosphere…
The title track begins with a new age flute sound, with accompanying bird sounds and watersounds, which could lead you down a new age pathway. Luckily for us, soon enough this gives way to more glitchy beats and synths…
Corium is the last track on the EP, and begins with low-key, atmospheric chord shapes, eventually giving way to a couple of pulsating synth patterns and driving beats, maybe a little more forceful than what we’ve previously heard, yet getting glitchier, and with a bass(ish) synth that grounds us in the abstract. Halfway through we get some more chords that own the space and drive us into epic electronica territory…
