This week I’ll be be featuring a few releases from Bricolage, a lovely underground ,experimental, techno label from Glasgow. They’ve been busy over the last couple of months, so thought it would be great to share a few things…
Filótimo is an EP release from Minerva, a producer from Hungary. She’s worked with Bricolage previously contributing tracks for compilation, and producing the odd remix, but this is her first proper outing for the label.
Meráki is our opener. It’s a rolling sound of synth noises, crashing sounds and a chopping pulse propelling you forward. From the filtered arpeggios at the beginning its a rollercoaster of sound that doesn’t relent. In a good way.
Írida is the second track, which begins with a sparser texture, percussive, with metallic percussion, soon accompanied by a more traditional techno beat. It’s hypnotic, although soon enough we’re breaking down into synth effects moving us in a different direction, before a harder ending.
Moving on to Elpída, we’re getting faster and more intense with our beats, it’s got an old school vibe here, driving us forwards. There’s an interesting break down in the middle to keep us on our toes, introducing new sounds before we head for the exit…
And finally there’s Chalára, beginning with some lovely synth sparkles, a welcome break from some of the pounding beats that we’ve enjoyed. It’s short, but a lovely way to end the release…
