CORECASS – Tar: A Dark, Cinematic Journey in Sound

“Tar” is the first single and title track from CORECASS’ latest album, released on October 17th via Moment of Collapse Records and Sacer Rec. The track opens with an immersive, ambient soundscape, with haunting vocal elements woven into the atmosphere. These processed vocals blend seamlessly with the surrounding textures, becoming both lyric and ambiance. The arrival of a piano adds momentum, transitioning the piece from pure ambience into something more dynamic. As the track builds, a crescendo introduces a fuller arrangement with drums, pushing the track into a progressive rock-like territory.

The album TAR delves into the themes of inner turmoil and existential despair, with CORECASS—Hamburg musician and producer Elinor Lüdde—crafting a sound that blends dark-ambient, post-rock, neo-classical, and electronica. Throughout the album’s eight tracks, guest appearances from artists like Colin H. van Eeckhout (Amenra, CHVE) and Ercüment Kasalar (MOOR) further enrich the sonic landscape.

CORECASS’ work balances minimalist instrumentation with moments of expansive urgency, offering a deeply cinematic and atmospheric experience. The album reflects a journey from despair to growth, using sound to explore the darker aspects of the human experience. The combination of piano, organ, harp, drums, and electric guitar creates an evocative soundscape that challenges listeners and defies genre boundaries.
