Who is Arthur King? Apparently Arthur King is a Los Angeles studio under the stewardship of multimedia artist Peter Walker, working with a host of experimental musicians, fil-makers and artists. The latest release from is ‘Changing Landscapes (Mina Las Pintadas)’
Mina Las Pintadas was created in a copper mine in Chile. Juxtaposed with processed flute melodies this creates a world in which the reality of the mine, the rhythms mechanically driving forwards, and the warm tones of the flute create a hypnotic aural soundscape.
Walker and his group spent a week at the mine recording source material, which culminated in a performance in a large cavern within the mine. The resulting performance became the record. Check out the final track, Caminando below…
