The pandemic we’ve found ourselves in has placed us in different parts of the world from those that we know and love, with without the ability to easily travel. Luckily we’ve got many ways to communicate, and to work together.
Kevin Erskine is a musician from San Diego, California, who through the beginning of the pandemic found himself in a place called Grass Valley. He came across a CD at an estate sale which featured Ravels piano music. He sampled it on his phone through his car speaker system, in order to get that lo-fi, grunchy sound.
In collaboration with a saxophone playing friend in Louisiana, and a drummer friend in Boston he managed to piece together this jazzy little number. It’s short, but nicely put together…
