Mahlukat & Ivan Shopov - Māyā feat Evan Hatfield and Amalgamy

Ivan Shopov is a Bulgarian composer and music producer with a track record of both solo and collaborations spanning 250 releases, including vinyl releases with Detroit Underground and PRSPCT Recordings. As a performer, he’s travelled as far as the USA, South America, Russia, Asia and New Zealand.

His most recent collaboration is with a Turkish / Polish duo called Mahlukat, with which he’s recorded a 10-track album bring together elements of world music, folk and electronica.

Here’s the second single from the album, called Māyā. This track features a live sitar part from Evan Hathfield, and a gadulka, which was new to me until today. There’s a lovely vocal to drive it forwards too, it’s a lovely track, we’ve also added it to our essential electronic music playlist…
