Staggered Labs was developed by application developer Kwame Johnson, who created MIDI generating software that allows him to produce music. Having been a musician in a previous life, Kwame combined his passion for app development and music to create Staggered Labs. As a musician himself, he was always intrigued by the reasons behind the creative decisions made by musicians, which led him to develop the MIDI generating plugin that powered Staggered Labs.
From what I understand of the process, there’s a stream of MIDI data that is outputted from the Aleator plugin used to create generative music. Kwame has then taken the best bits of this and assembled it all as more coherent compositions, such as 00dles below…
If you visit the Staggered Labs website there’s a couple of streams of live output from the software to give you a feel for the source material. It’s an interesting project, and I look forward to seeing how it progresses…
