Toronto-based band Shy Kids return with “looping heavenly clouds,” a track that blends acoustic and psychedelic textures. Gentle strummed guitars and melodic fragments float through the song, building into a hypnotic, entrancing crescendo as it progresses. The song’s organic sound evolves into something more surreal, pulling the listener into an immersive, dreamy atmosphere.
The track is inspired by Bob Monroe’s descriptions of heaven from his out-of-body experiences, as described in his books. Monroe’s disappointment in a looping, unchanging heaven is captured musically, reflecting the search for novelty and meaning beyond eternal repetition.
Shy Kids have been active since 2010, with releases including Field Trips (2012), Lofty! (2015), and the visual album in a state (2018). In addition to their musical success, the trio—Patrick Cederberg, Matthew Hornick, and Walter Woodman—are accomplished filmmakers, known for groundbreaking work such as the short film NOAH and recent major productions with Netflix and HBO.
