Ross Koopmans – Awake: Dream-Pop Atmospheres and Euphoric Energy

Awake opens with a pulsing kick and a delicate synth arpeggio that gradually unfolds into a lush and layered electronic soundscape. Percussive textures shimmer in reverb, while shifting harmonies and subtle bass movement build momentum. The track evolves organically—minimal and hypnotic at first—before opening up around the halfway mark into something more expansive and euphoric.

The production is clean and well-spaced, balancing warmth and clarity. There’s a dream-pop sensibility throughout, carried by glowing synth pads and melodic flourishes that invite the listener to sink in and drift. Koopmans’ control of dynamics keeps the track engaging from start to finish—never rushed, always fluid.

Awake is the second single from Ross Koopmans’ forthcoming EP Rebirth. The track began from a Prophet-6 arpeggio outlining major 7th harmonies, before evolving into an immersive journey inspired by the sounds of M83, Electric Youth, and Seoul. Mastered by Shawn Joseph at Optimum Mastering (Bristol, UK), the mix captures depth and motion while retaining its emotional clarity.

A Canadian composer, producer, and DJ based in London, Koopmans works across indie, classical, and electronic styles. His music often draws from visual art and film, crafting pieces that feel both cinematic and intimate.
