Brazilian record label and party series Nice & Deadly presents its twenty-first release, a five-track EP from co-founder and Confronto Soundsystem crew member Rassan, featuring a remix by Kyoto’s Stones Taro. The EP delivers a no-nonsense collection of bass-heavy steppers that venture into uncharted territories, embracing an eclectic blend of sounds and influences.
“Saxon Dub,” in particular, captivates with its club-ready vibe, setting the stage with a pulsing yet slightly hesitant kick drum and intriguing synth lines. As the track unfolds, a distinct garage vibe enters the fray, propelling the energy forward and igniting the dancefloor. The lively dancehall vocal lines interplay seamlessly with the captivating bass, elevating the track to new heights and infusing it with undeniable energy.
Nice & Deadly, established in 2016, serves as a creative haven for Brazilian artists, allowing them to explore their musical visions without conforming to specific genres. For co-founders Stenio Freitas (Data Assault), Lorrayne Colares, and Rassan, the label was born both out of necessity and a desire for creative expression. Recognizing the need to provide a platform for local producers and artists, the team set out to nurture talent and promote a diverse range of sounds from their city, Brasília.
