plygid is a Manila born artist, who now lives in New Jersey. Through his musical evolution he’s explored hip-hop beat making, dance and electronica, inspired by artists as diverse as Madlib and Air. He’s released a couple of EP’s that draw upon house and techno influences.
So now he’s completed his debut LP, entitled Sensory Shell, and recently released his third single from the album, called sirens. It’s opening vocal sample and filtered drum break sets the tone for a track with a classic sound, reminiscent of 90’s labels like Ninja Tune.
Delayed loops evetually give way to a dub-steppy bass line that lead us further forwards, through ambient washes and further percussive elements before we get some classic drum and bass sounding breaks, it’s got an old school-vibe, and delivered well. There’s even a 303 hiding in there. Enjoy…
