Platonica Erotica is the work of LA-born Hannah Hayden. She’s released music on Slow Dance Records, as well as on various compilations, and built up a following on the live scene, performing in venues in Brixton and for Black Country, New Road at the 100 Club.
Her musical stomping-ground has also extended to playing gigs with Matt Maltese, Tiña, The Rhythm Method and Famous. Her debut release was on Slow Dance’s 2018 Compilation: lo-fi bedroom track “Wasted” introduced her as an idiosyncratic songwriter whose humour and intelligence bleed through her words and arrangements. She went on to also contribute to their 2020 edition, with the deliciously lullaby-like “ILYSM”, and to Dig That Treasure’s Elevate compilation.
Here’s what she has to say about ‘I Want To Be Every Man I Meet’, a wonderful track taken from her new EP:
I nicknamed this song “The Battle Song” for a while because of all the explosions in the background. It actually started as a very upbeat-sounding song (not dissimilar to Sugar, Honey, Honey if you can believe that) but as I got more versed in creating synth noises I wanted to draw on the lyrics and create a very bleak and empty landscape with the sounds I used.
The Platonica Erotica EP is out now, released by Slow Dance Records. You can listen to the whole EP below…
