Dunes, the closing track from oplen’s new album Bronze, opens with slow, evolving string tones and harmonic, organ-like layers floating above. The ambient nature of the track gradually shifts, adding depth when a processed saxophone, played by Lina Langendorf, weaves through the soundscape with improvised melodies. The track meanders through experimental textures, occasionally hinting at rhythm but largely remaining in ambient and exploratory realms.
Released on October 16, Bronze showcases oplen’s signature blend of electronics and processed acoustic instruments. The album introduces unique soundscapes using strings, cymbals, and percussion made from bronze, mixed with analog synths and field recordings. Moving between dark drones, ambient soundscapes, and experimental beats, the album even dips into krautrock influences.
oplen, the solo project of Swedish artist Henrik Sunbring (also of post-kraut duo Domus), began in 2001 when Sunbring first discovered his passion for manipulating sounds and creating layered, melancholic rhythms. His music remains rooted in deep experimentalism, blending organic and futuristic elements into cohesive sound journeys.
