Oils is an experimental ambient product from instrumentalist and producer Oliver Dickson. A musician with background in piano and a keen interest in rock, he turned his attentions to electronic music through discovering artists such as Aphex Twin, Black Dog, and Oneohtrix Point Never. Some great influences to have!
His music has journeyed from Between Voids, an ambient soundtrack style album inspired by John Carpenter and Philip Glass through his Noodles EP, with a more sound design centred approach, to Earthly Vistas, inspired initially by the classical aesthetic of composers such as Ravel and Debussy.
So here’s Guiding Light, a track taken from the forthcoming Earthly Vistas, which shows a definite harmonic influence from Debussy with is use of chord movements, and a lovely electronic vibe, with both delicate and intense sounds contributing to the listening experience…
