Last Days revisits Windscale with Free Energy

Last Days is a project from Graham Richardson, a musician from Northumberland. He has a track record working with the n5MD label over the last decade or so, with six albums released from 2006 onwards.

His latest album uses as its source material a fire at the Windscale nuclear power plant (now Sellafield) in the UK in 1957, with a narrative that follows the critical events in the reactors timeline, mirroring the mood, through optimism to melancholy.

Here’s a track from the album called Free Energy, an ambient / experimental track with an underlying menace running through some lovely harmonic progressions…

Windscale is now available on Spotify. You can also enjoy it on our Spotify ambient playlist.
