North London-based artist Katja releases “HEALING,” a deeply atmospheric track layered with her distinctive soulful vocals. A minimal, relaxed drum beat and pulsating bass provide the foundation for her evocative sound, blending downtempo trip-hop elements reminiscent of Massive Attack and Portishead. The track’s restrained percussion and dubby textures create a vibe that is as soothing as it is introspective, capturing Katja’s essence as an artist.
Katja’s journey into music has been one of self-discovery and release. Heartbreak initially pushed her towards a more profound need for creative expression, and her music reflects a personal and heartfelt approach. With influences spanning dubstep, garage, house, hip-hop, jazz, and soul, her vocal delivery is raw and soulful, sharing glimpses of her experiences and emotions with each line.
Katja began her musical career performing in small venues and restaurants, gradually building a presence that saw her co-hosting the club night ‘Turf’ in Cambridge, where she performed alongside renowned DJs like DJ EZ and Zed Bias. These appearances paved the way for further performances, including an appearance at London’s iconic Fabric club with dubstep producers Dusk & Blackdown. She later formed the electronic-soul group Goldaka, with whom she played various London and Brighton venues.
