Here’s a lovely ambient track from a German musician called Jumpel. Jumpel began his musical journey with a Commodore 64, and hasn’t stopped since, playing key and samples in a band called Bones as well as writing scores and producing music for film and documentaries.
It’s this score-writing experience that comes to the fore here with a new track called Forest Section, taken from an album called Drive.
It’s ambient, with washes of synth pads, moving around the space between the speakers creating drift, evolving slowly and surely to create structure. Piano notes occasionally peak through the mix to add some melodic ideas. It’s also underpinned by drum patterns and small fragments of rhythm to move you forwards.
