Hamish Brown’s Equilux opens his debut album Barsini Red with a blend of layered instrumentation and a steady rhythmic pulse. Tremolo-treated synth textures set the scene, creating a shimmering backdrop for rolling guitar arpeggios. The groove is held together by downtempo drums and bass, establishing a calm but forward-moving energy.
As the track develops, strings introduce a wider harmonic palette, while saxophone phrases take the spotlight in the latter half. These melodic flourishes bring warmth and motion, shifting the tone into a more expansive and expressive space.
The composition reflects Brown’s background in both band performance and electronic production, combining elements of cinematic scoring, minimalism, jazz, and ambient electronica.
