Gotopo - Maravilla En La Descracia

Gotopo released her debut self produced single ‘Malembe’ a couple of years back, which audiences to describe her sound as “a futuristic soundtrack of Latin roots.. a mashup of Lido Pimienta, FKA Twigs and Bomba Estéreo.”

She’s now returned with wonderful track called Maravilla En La Descracia, a co-production with Robot Koch, who we featured not too long ago with his excellent Foam and Sand Reworks.

“I re-interpreted an Afro-latin-indigenous song into a contemporary experience inspired by the spread of Afro-latin-indigenous peoples around the globe, and the impact Urban life and Culture has in our identities. I call it ‘Ancestral Beat’.”

It’s a wonderful track and production, the vocal sound reminding me of Goldfrapp a little, with considered production using latin elements in a subtle way, complementing and enhancing the sound, allowing Gotopo’s vocal to take centre stage…
