Fybe:One is taken from the new EP from South London-based producer, DJ, illustrator, and graphic designer Greg Haynes AKA Fybe:One. The track was created at the height of summer, combining organic and ‘real’ instrumentation, combined with experimental electronic production.
I think what drew me to this tune was the guitar in the intro which reminded me of summer days, reminiscent of The Isley Brothers. The track has an undercurrent with tightly programmed drums and occasional glitching harmonies. Some lovely filtering of the vocals at around the 2:00 minute mark take us into a retro-sounding d&b frame of mind, added soon after with some arpeggiating synth and vinyl crackle taking things down…
