DJ Yoda is soon to release his latest album Prom Nite, release November 18th on Lewis Recordings. From the singles released in advance we’re in for a treat, with collaborations with artists including Eva Lazarus, Homeboy Sandman, Choosey, Liam Bailey, Beardyman, Jamie Cullum, DJ Woody and O Love.
The tracks released so far show a leaning towards songwriting, soul & r&b influences to complement the turntablism and beats that we know and love from some of DJ Yoda’s previous work.
One track previewed so far is ‘Breathe’ a long-awaited collaboration with his former neighbour, the actress Lily James. It’s a lovely start to the album, a trip-hoppy chilled, downtempo vibe (with a turntablist solo of course!) to get you in the mood for what’s to come…
DJ Yoda says, “Lily used to live downstairs from me, and we always talked about making some music together. It wasn’t easy with her insane schedule, but we eventually made it happen. We talked about our music tastes, found common ground, and tried to make something interesting. I’m super happy with the results!”
Prior to Breathe Yoda released Feel Like Home, a track featuring the House Gospel Choir, a beautiful track with a soulful groove so if you missed it, check it out below…
