Damian Boylan’s Gossamer opens with bouncing synth plucks and pulsing percussion, setting a dynamic tone that evolves into a rich and atmospheric downtempo techno track. Driven by a vintage Korg SQ-10, the synth lines establish a textured rhythmic base, gradually building momentum before a heavy Moog bass takes over, adding weight and presence.
There’s a distinctive shift midway through as the piece transitions into a more cinematic section. Soft piano elements are introduced, giving space for reflection before the return of the synth motif. Breath-like vocal textures and staccato strings contribute to a layered composition that manages to be both expansive and intimate.
Mastered by Matt Colton at Metropolis Studios (known for his work with Aphex Twin, Four Tet, and Floating Points), the sound is polished but retains its sense of warmth and movement. The production choices favour clarity and dynamic contrast, which serve the track’s structure well as it rises to an uplifting close.
