Escape Velocity by Max Walter is an intricate blend of arpeggiated synths and organ tones, weaving together a layered and evolving sonic experience. The track begins with slightly distorted arpeggios, underpinned by shifting organ chords that add depth and motion. As the piece progresses, the interplay between the arpeggios and the chord sequence creates a dynamic counterpoint, gradually intensifying. A new layer of arpeggios emerges, rising steadily to build energy and drive the track to a climactic finish.
Part of the release Somnia Terrae, Escape Velocity reflects Walter’s diverse musical journey. Born in Germany, raised in Uganda, and now based in Kenya, his influences span afro-fusion, neoclassical piano, and early electronica. Recorded over six days at Fiakka Studios in Vienna with producer Magnus Thomson, the track exemplifies Walter’s genre-blending approach, hinting subtly at soukous guitar and cinematic textures.
