Botany is the work of Spencer Stephenson, who produces music using samples and fragments of sound, twisted and manipulated, papier-mâché’d into new and interesting works.
Portal Orphanage is his latest release (and maybe his last as Botany), a 25-minute release showing his skills, cultivating his sound from a stack of 45rpm records. Rare Jubilation is a wonderful track that also features Joseph Shabason, a saxophonist, who pick up the flute for this track and adds some wonderful flourishes to Stephenson’s soundscapes…
