TheThe track opens with a relaxed, jazzy feel before moving into something funkier, with a tight groove sitting underneath an emotive vocal delivered with an appealingly nonchalant quality.
Piano plays an important role throughout, moving between punchier rhythmic parts and more delicate, almost classical-sounding passages. As the arrangement develops, the band shifts around the piano and vocal, allowing the groove to loosen before pulling back together.
At points the rhythm drops back and gives the piano more space, before the full arrangement returns with a warmer funk feel. These changes bring some nice variation to the track while retaining the relaxed character established at the beginning.
The recording features Ariel Days, the side project of Alfie Templeman, alongside drummer Miles Pillinger and a wider group of London musicians drawn from popular and improvised music. Their contributions bring together jazz, funk and pop elements within a loose, understated arrangement.
