Analogue Birds is a German outfit based around the work of Tom Fronza and David Bruhn. Combining instrumentation such as didgeridoos, keys, synth, percussion and live looping they create a sound that is jazzy, tribal, breakbeat and rock inspired, and have worked with producer Roli Mosiman, Damo Suzuki from Can, and most recently Pat Appleton.
Released on Umlaut Recordings, here’s a single released last year. Alley Cats features Pat Appleton on vocals, with a slow downtempo groove with a percussive inticacy, synth accents and subtle guitar phrasing meandering through the track, accompanying Appleton’s vocal, which have a vibe that reminds me of a laid back Shirley Bassey.
