Marc Méan is a swiss pianist and keyboardist living currently in Zürich. He has been touring extensivily in Europe with all kinds of projects ranging from jazz with his own band Taïga and psychelic rock with the collective Service Fun to experimental improvised music in duo with Tobias Meier.
As a pianist Marc never really considered a solo album, it wasn’t really on his radar. Inspired by the Ciat-Lonbarde Cocoquantus, an instrument created Peter Blasser, he began to delve into the world of electronic music.
Being alone with a piano on a entire record never really tempted me. It always felt like a pompous and empty adventure. I have always been more interested in having conversations than monologues being that in life or in music. But this whole idea of a solo album changed when I discovered the Ciat-Lonbarde Cocoquantus, an instrument created by the genius electronic alchemist that is Peter Blasser. His instrument has a sense a randomness and unpredictability that allowed me to have a whole different approach to playing alone. It felt to me as if I was having a discussion with the machine itself.
