David Chivers delves into the realm of dark experimental ambient music with his latest track, “Peret.” Drawing inspiration from ancient Egyptian rituals, this mesmerizing composition weaves together organic and evolving sounds, utilizing warped voices, strings, synths, and brass to create a haunting sonic landscape reminiscent of acclaimed artists like Hildur Guðnadóttir and Burial.
With a background as a classical violinist and a successful career with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, Chivers made a bold shift into rock and electronics with the formation of his band, Aéronèf, in 2020. His foray into music production led him to explore the world of film scoring, culminating in his striking soundtrack for a Channel 4 documentary about Jon Snow.
Born to French-American parents in Paris and raised in London, Chivers’ musical journey has been enriched by diverse influences, ranging from classical maestros like Philip Glass to contemporary innovators like James Holden and Radiohead.
