“Monadlogic” by the Department of Electrophilosophy delves into the abstract concept of unity within a vast multiplicity, drawing inspiration from the Monadology of German polymath Leibniz. The track unfolds with ambient, mechanical sounds and metallic synth tones, gradually intensifying to create a driving minimal groove. With an experimental industrial edge and zero samples, “Monadlogic” offers a unique sonic journey that transcends traditional boundaries.
Department of Electrophilosophy is the electronic music alter ego of a California-based philosophy professor. Despite decades ago deciding against a career in music due to concerns about losing the ability to play instruments, the allure of electronic music persisted. Now, Department of Electrophilosophy provides an outlet for exploration beyond the confines of traditional instruments. Drawing inspiration from bands like Einstürzende Neubauten and Coil, this project allows the artist to express musical ideas in new directions previously unexplored.
