Brussels-based musician Macgray brings a unique auditory experience with his track “Luminal Serenity – Rework.” The composition features an atmospheric build that is both organic and slightly industrial, incorporating metallic tones and textured vocal layers. As the track progresses, it gains energy, ebbs and flows, and finally returns to full force after a subdued interlude.
“Journey to the Dawn,” the underlying theme of this rework, reflects the collapse and reconstruction of a man’s world. The piece explores the tumultuous journey through panic attacks and moments of absolute calm, leading to a transformation where the man learns to live anew. It symbolizes the struggle and eventual rise from chaos, embodying the survival of the inner voice amidst the chaos.
Macgray, known for his rich musical landscape full of analog synths, pianos, strings, voices, and field recordings, began his solo project in 2019. With a background in classical music and jazz, he has been involved in various musical projects, including a rock band and an electronic music ensemble. His debut album, “Journey to the Dawn,” was nominated for the Octave de la Musique in 2021. Following up with his second album, “Collapse,” in 2023, Macgray delved into themes of creation and destruction across the universe. This September, he is set to release a new electronica EP, continuing to captivate audiences with his innovative soundscapes.
