Opening with a bubbling synth bass and layered pads, Ohr’s latest single “Red Pill” seamlessly transitions into a groove powered by breakbeats and a spacey vocal performance. This track blends elements of psychedelia, indie-electronic vibes, and an electronic sound reminiscent of Kraftwerk. The result is a captivating auditory experience that embodies the best of Craig Klein’s eclectic influences.
Seattle-based psych-electronic artist Ohr, led by Craig Klein (formerly of The Race), has announced the release of their new album Afterglow, set for August 30 via Headstate Records. Alongside this album announcement, Ohr has dropped the single “Red Pill,” accompanied by a remix from Sonic Boom of Spacemen 3. Klein’s love for ’90s electronica and psychedelic textures shines through in this track, combining sampled rhythms and woozy hooks into a cathartic soundscape.
Klein recorded Afterglow during a period of personal upheaval, following the unexpected death of his father. This album explores themes of light and darkness, drawing inspiration from Klein’s journey through grief and renewal. The single “Red Pill” stands as a testament to Klein’s ability to channel his emotional experiences into his music. With Sonic Boom’s remix adding an extra layer of electronic and psychedelic elements.
