AUTORHYTHM - Intercellular Communication

Intercellular Communication is a track from Swedish producer Joakim Forsgren, released as AUTORHYTHM, and his taken from his debut-album Songs for the Nervous System.

Joakim felt he had to abandon his musical pursuits after losing most of his hi frequency hearing due to a treatment for bone cancer at age 17, and shifted his focus into the realms of visual art. After a stint playing bass in punk and rock bands, he decided to refocus on electronic music.

Songs for the Nervous System was created using synthesisers chosen because the were around the same age as Joakim, creating an analog sound, analogous to Joakim. “The name and the impetus for the music were born out of the question of what music his electronic devices and machines themselves would play if Forsgren were not able to play them himself.”

The result is a wonderful hypnotic sound, driven forwards by slowly evolving analog synths and rhythms, with shades of Kraftwerk, albeit with a contemporary edge…
