Auto Portrait is a couple duo consisting of poet Suki Vita and classical composer and visual artist Luca Bailey. Through poetry, visual art and sonic trial-and-error, Auto Portrait is the outcome of the union between the backgrounds of Suki’s Tokyo and Luca’s Birmingham.
They’ve just released their debut single ‘I, Pre Defined’ with ‘By You Infinitely’ as a b-side. They’re both great tracks, although very different in approach and sound…
Here’s what Suki has to say about I, Pre Defined…
‘I, Pre Defined’ conveys the inevitable destiny one gets assigned to in life, with some having no choice than to being stripped from their dreams and desired paths. This song represents the idea of stepping out of our known destiny to escape the stagnant structure and be conscious of the consequences in staying silent under these conditions.
Suki Vita
It’s dark, industrial, and full of energy with beats, distortion, guitar, screaming. It’s a great track…
In contrast, The B-side ‘By You Infinitely’ is a lovely, warm, melodic synth-based track created using modular synth, with a laid back vocal. Here’s what Luca says about the track…
the song “explores the fear of losing the embrace of the ones we love the most and the inevitability of growing further away from their memory as time passes. Yet, in equal measure it celebrates the life affirming nature of those embraces, and gives hope to the present moment”.
It’s lovely, here it is…
