Croptal is a stage name of Tal Yaniv, an Israeli musician and keyboard player. As well as producing as Croptal, Tal is a member of Avtipus.
Taking the approach of theme and variations, which dates back to the time of Mozart, Tal begins with a piano theme, and then explores this musical material through a series of variations, emphasising various instrumentation along the way.
Here’s the 6th variation, an interesting electronic track using an electronic, pulsing, sometimes abstract approach, with Oberheim like brassy tones providing interest over a rhythmic synth pattern…
And here’s the finale of the album, which takes an altogether different approach, utilising cinematic, soundscape and ambient ideas to produce a track full of drama, mystery and tension…
