Folk music and electronics are a wonderful combination, We’ve featured a few folk based releases previously. We’re delighted to feature some Estonian folk music this time. Here’s an ambient electronica take on an Estonian trad pipe tune ‘Juhan Maaker’s Tune Number 22’, as featured on Folkatron Sessions’ debut Skiver.
This atmospheric arrangement fragments fiddle tune through modular synth, layering and overlapping them against soaring string lines and dreamy synth textures. Recorded live in session by a quartet-version of Folkatron Sessions, with Hannah Jacobs on synth, Nicholas O’Brien on modular synth, Lauren Spiceley on fiddle and Martha Wiltshire on cello.
