CØLIBRI’s latest track, “Montréal,” embarks on a sonic journey that starts with broken, crunchy drum sounds before gradually introducing atmospheric chords and metallic synth textures. As the composition progresses, it transitions into a more established harmony, propelled by a driving beat that infuses the track with vigor. The mood shifts from the darker energy of the intro to a brighter, more uplifting and optimistic atmosphere.
“Montréal” serves as a tribute to the vibrant and ever-evolving city that inspired it. As a proud French-speaking enclave in the midst of a continent known for its desire to assert dominance, Montréal stands out for its unique character. This city holds a special place in CØLIBRI’s artistic journey, where the foundations of the project were laid, music videos were filmed, and the pursuit of an individual sound identity began to take shape.
While now based in France, CØLIBRI maintains a strong connection to the region through artistic collaborations and personal projects, such as the exploration of Kuujjuaq, the largest Inuit village in Quebec.
Looking ahead, CØLIBRI’s upcoming EP, “Archipel,” scheduled for release in November 2023, promises to captivate listeners with its fusion of diverse influences. In the meantime, Jérôme, the creative force behind CØLIBRI, continues to be involved in various projects, both on-screen and as a producer for French and European artists.
