U’s Black Hole – A Dark and Driving Industrial Journey

UK producer U returns with Black Hole, a new single that dives into a dense, atmospheric soundscape. With driving breakbeat grooves, layered synth arpeggios, and dark, atmospheric textures, the track delivers a menacing and hypnotic energy. The beats pulse forward relentlessly, while bubbling synthesisers add a sense of urgency, accentuated by eerie sound effects that enhance the track’s brooding intensity.

Black Hole marks U’s first release on Lex Records, following earlier work on Erol Alkan’s Phantasy Sound label. Known for blending gritty, melodic electronic fuzz with stern beats, U continues to explore the intersection of gothtronica and electronic body music (EBM). The track incorporates samples that nod to post-punk, new wave, and early house, while dreamy pads and a rapped vocal provide a fleeting, euphoric break reminiscent of the early ’90s rave scene.

Though U remains an elusive figure, their distinctive sound has garnered praise from tastemakers and press alike, with support from The Guardian, Line of Best Fit, and Crack Magazine, and airplay from BBC Radio 1 and 6Music. Black Hole serves as a bold preview for an upcoming 8-track EP, showcasing U’s ability to craft industrial, melodic, and rhythmically intense tracks that leave a lasting impression.
