San Ré’s latest single, “Belly Butter,” introduces a compelling mix of stuttering clipped sounds, a pounding kick, and an alternating chord sequence. The vocal delivery, reminiscent of 80s and 90s spoken/rap styles, adds a nostalgic yet fresh layer to the track, making it both engaging and driving.
“Belly Butter” is the first single from the forthcoming LP Charm Offensive, set for release in late 2024. This track, which also serves as the opening song on the LP, is accompanied by a guest remix and a dub mix, all slated for release in July 2024 on both vinyl and digital/streaming platforms.
San Ré is the creative alias of Amsterdam-based electronic music producer Ben Evolo. Described by Electronic Sound magazine as “dub-slanted electronica, distinctly cinematic, and wide-ranging,” San Ré’s music combines analog hardware and synthesis to craft his distinctive sound.
Beyond his own original tracks, San Ré has composed original film scores for groundbreaking and award-winning independent films. Though currently residing in Amsterdam, San Ré hails from the US, with roots in NYC and Boston.
