Sinan Özgür Koç, a.k.a. Rozarc, is a producer, drummer and sound engineer based in Berlin. Inspired by artists as diverse as Björk, Amon Tobin, and Nine Inch Nails, he’s honed a style fusing elements of techno, industrial, downtempo and IDM.
Following on from his 2019 debut EP Odds Are Tough, he’s now released an album entitled Flamacue, which contains 12 songs, fusing together experimental tracks and a range of influences and styles, yet still cohesive as an album. Let’s have a look at some of the tracks…
Opening the album we have S.S.7 with a lovely piano phrase augmented by a driving kick, later giving way to some swirling techno elements, it drops in pace later with fragmented and delayed keys, dropping away at the end. Check it out…
Next up is Bullet Game, slower in pulse than S.S.7 but driving nonetheless, swirling and sweeping sounds take us forwards, before some gated pads bring some well defined harmonies to the fore…
Later in the album we reach For The Sake of a Long Night, with a sci-fi sounding brassy synth driven along by a pulsing kick. The synth feels gnarly, and provides tension until it gives way to a different groove, we’re a little more upbeat here, but still menacing undertones persist…
Skipping forwards a couple of tracks is Slow Notion, a quickening pulse is accompanied be deep piano growls and synth effects. It’s dark and moody, building in intensity, before triplet effects later give it a slower feel, before picking up again for our ending…
The last track hear is the 9th on the album, and called Buckle Up. It’s buzzing synths at the outset are accompanied by what almost sounds like a train, building in intensity with FM sounding synths adding an off-beat groove. Pausing in intensity mid-way through, we’re soon back in the thick of it, with a number of textures worked through to the end…
