“strawberry in hell” unfolds around a set of alternating chords that give the track its core shape. Rhythmic elements flicker and glitch into place, never quite settling, which keeps the momentum slightly off-balance in an engaging way. Vocal fragments surface through the gaps, heavily processed and treated as texture rather than narrative, folding into the rhythm instead of sitting on top of it.
The production leans hard into sound design. Processed audio forms the backbone of the track, with stretched phrases and warped timing giving it a strange sense of elasticity. There is a pop sensibility buried inside the structure, but it is constantly pulled apart and reassembled, creating something playful and experimental without feeling chaotic.
This is the second single from Poetmistry’s forthcoming album STRAWBERRY. It reflects his background in poetry and sampling, where language and sound are reshaped to explore ideas of culture and displacement. Poetmistry is also known for his sound design work online and currently teaches at New York University, which comes through in the careful, concept-driven approach to the track.
