Freak Establishment’s latest track “Surprise” from their album Retroflections delivers an intense synth experience. Featuring a fast, repetitive bass line and melodic synth overlays, this track offers a vintage yet engaging sound that captures the listener’s attention.
“Surprise” is the 6th track on the new album, out now on Squidropolis Records. The accompanying video pays homage to Brian De Palma’s 1972 film Sisters, utilizing his signature split-screen technique. This creative approach reflects the collaborative efforts of Michael & Squiddy, with the left side of the screen and first section of music representing Michael, and the right side and second section representing Squiddy.
Set in the year 3024, Freak Establishment’s narrative includes intriguing characters like Squiddy, a humanoid squid, and Michael, a cyborg-jazz nerd. Produced by The Faceless Character, the album also features complex relationships with characters such as James Sneeze and Professor FRANK, adding depth and intrigue to the duo’s creative universe.
