A driving kick and sparse percussion establish the pace of “Maze”, quickly joined by a syncopated bassline that gradually opens through a filter sweep. It gives the track an immediate sense of momentum while keeping the arrangement relatively minimal.
As the bass develops, subtle changes in the rhythm prevent the groove from settling into a completely static loop. Synth pads drift above the low end, introducing a softer harmonic layer and adding space around the more direct kick and bass combination.
The filter movement becomes an important part of the arrangement, allowing the bass to grow and change without adding unnecessary layers. Small rhythmic shifts provide further variation, while the kick continues to push steadily underneath.
