Aitis Band – He’s Great: Playful Spoken-Word Grooves and Experimental Layers

He’s Great opens with a loft groove driven by rolling synth bass, steady drums, and a grooving live bass guitar. Vocals arrive in a spoken-word style, delivered with a wry edge, while sounds swirl across the stereo field to create a layered, immersive mix. The track balances repetition and experimentation, keeping its offbeat energy both effective and engaging.

The single appears on AITIS BAND – IV, out October 10 via Ernest Jenning Record Co. Produced by former bandmate Nate Kinsella (who also mixed AITIS BAND III as well as Joan of Arc’s 1984), the album continues the trio’s playful yet unsettling fusion of haunted atmospheres, absurd humor, and art-school sensibilities.

Formed in 2019 by former Joan of Arc members Bobby Burg (Love of Everything) and Melina Ausikaitis, joined by visual artist/musician Ray Borchers, Aitis Band has built a reputation for mixing deadpan lyricism with noisy, off-kilter grooves. Their setup is as unconventional as their sound, with dueling Roland EG101 drum machines/keyboards, a MicroKorg, drones held down by weights, and Ausikaitis’ stringless fake guitar processed through pedals.

Having shared stages with Dry Cleaning, Circuit des Yeux, Parquet Courts, Black Dice, and American Football, Aitis Band has carved out a distinctive space where experimental electronics, lyrical absurdity, and noisy anthems collide.
