Liam Howe’s Ricochets Within the Perimeter begins with a collection of unusual, processed sound textures. Fragments appear and overlap, gradually building into a layered arrangement, with delayed guitar sounds adding movement and depth.

As the piece develops, its repeated elements accumulate in an almost dub-like way. Echoes and shifting details establish a spacious, slightly unsettled atmosphere before the rhythm settles into a downtempo groove. There is something of Can in the way the music moves forwards, allowing repetition, texture and small changes to drive the arrangement.

The track then seems to shift up a gear, gathering momentum without abandoning its experimental approach. Guitar treatments and other electronic sounds continue to move around the beat, giving the production an engaging balance of rhythmic purpose and sonic unpredictability.

A founding member of Sneaker Pimps, Howe is drawing on his background in electronic composition and production for a new solo instrumental project. Ricochets Within the Perimeter makes effective use of contrast, combining a dubby rhythmic foundation with inventive textures and a constantly evolving atmosphere.

Released in September 2026 via PSW.
