London-based composer and electronic producer Sasha Scott’s latest track, Inertia, is a striking journey through sonic layers and textured sounds. Known for her distinct electro-acoustic compositions, Scott brings a unique, experimental approach to this track. Inertia begins with delayed and repeated sounds, crafting a lofi soundscape with metallic timbres shifting through the soundstage. The track builds intensity with beat-driven, skittering elements that transport listeners across an evolving, atmospheric soundscape.
Scott’s career has seen her blend classical composition with electronic innovation, leading to prestigious commissions and collaborations across orchestras and festivals worldwide. Since winning BBC Young Composer of the Year in 2019, she has been commissioned by the BBC Concert Orchestra, Aurora Orchestra, and recently performed Inertia with live electronics at Hackney Empire with the London Symphony Orchestra. Her performances have captivated audiences at prominent venues like Wigmore Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall, and Kings Place, and her debut EP Spiral drew attention on BBC Radio 6 and NTS Radio.
In addition to her own compositions, Scott’s orchestration and arrangement work spans collaborations with artists like Loraine James and Wendy Carlos, and she has contributed to television scores, including BBC’s The Control Room. As a violinist, she performs regularly with Chineke! Orchestra and the London Contemporary Orchestra, expanding her footprint across both the classical and contemporary music scenes.
Inertia exemplifies Scott’s innovative blend of organic and electronic textures, her ability to create immersive and emotive atmospheres, and her ongoing dedication to pushing sonic boundaries. The track not only underscores her creative evolution but also hints at new directions as she continues to explore and expand within the world of ambient and electronic music.
