Wonky – Orbital Remix

Orbital rank as one of my favourite electronic music groups. I was well chuffed to see a competition on Beatport to remix their latest single, Wonky.

Using mostly vocal stems from the original I added some hardware synths, as well as an analogue drum synth I bought recently to create a dark, intense electro mix.

You can listen and vote for my mix HERE.

A Collaboration with the Ligeti Quartet

As an exciting video collaboration, I’m working with the Ligeti Quartet on their performance of Sofia Gubaidulina’s String Quartet No. 4. The String Quartet itself is composed for live string quartet, two pre-recorded quartet tracks and lighting. The aim of the project is for the video to be a “performance” of the lighting part, every bit as impressive as theatre lights but within the limits of a single digital projector.

Ligeti are dedicated to promoting 20th and 21st century music of both established and emerging composers. The quartet is comprised of graduates from the Royal Academy of Music, Royal College of Music and Oxford University.

The performance will be at the Jacqueline Du Pré Music Building, Oxford on Friday 20th April. The programme is as follows:

PHILIP GLASS – String Quartet No. 2, Company (1984)
ELENA FIRSOVA – String Quartet No. 8, The Stone Guest (1995)
GYORGY LIGETI – String Quartet No. 1, Métamorphoses nocturnes (1952-4)

Interval

SOFIA GUBAIDULINA- String Quartet No. 4 (1993)
ANTON WEBERN – Six Bagatelles for String Quartet Op. 9 (1913)
NICOLA LEFANU- Quartet No. 2 (1996)
JOHN ADAMS – Fellow Traveler (2007)
